Planning for the 2017 Rome International Film Festival is well underway, and we are experiencing exciting growth in this, our 14th year, as “one of the outstanding film festivals in the Southeast,” according to MovieMaker magazine. We are changing the dates from September to November. This year the festival will be held November 9th - 12th. Apart from films, RIFF features film industry workshops, celebrity appearances, and social gatherings that let you meet and mingle with attending filmmakers.
You may be interested to see RIFF’s impact on our region. Since RIFF began in 2003,
- 21,000 people have viewed 830 screenings comprised of mostly independent films from all corners of the globe.
- 1,300 community volunteers have donated more than 6,500 hours of service.
- According to estimates from the Georgia Film Office, local filming has a positive impact of $60,000-100,000 per day in Georgia. RIFF increases the region’s exposure as a destination for film production in Georgia. Rome and Floyd County is listed at a Camera Ready Community by the Georgia Film Office.
