15th annual Rome International Film Festival Student Scholar Application

The Rome International Film Festival (RIFF), now in its fifteenth year, will be held November 1st-4th in the historic DeSoto Theater on Broad Street. We invite students to participate in the Festival, to view films, meet filmmakers and participate in workshops. RIFF is a non-profit organization that welcomes local, national and international films and filmmakers to share the art of film with regional audiences, to entertain and educate festival attendees, to provide filmmakers the opportunity for professional networking and development, and to encourage cultural tourism and film industry development in Rome and Floyd County.

This year, RIFF has received a grant from the Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA) to sponsor “student scholars;" RIFF is offering up to 10 film passes per school for all high schools/colleges in the area. Students will be expected to attend films and also to attend one or more workshops that RIFF will sponsor. This year we will be offering workshops on Cinematography, Screenwriting, Acting, Animal Wrangling & Training, Voice Acting, and Building your own production kit. Participating students will be given special badges that recognize them as RACA Student Scholars. Students will be asked to write reviews of films that they attend, and these will be posted through various RIFF media outlets.
